Garri, Peanut, Milk and Sugar Packaging and Sales in Nigeria; The Feasibility Report.
Nigeria’s food processing industry is estimated at over $10 billion and provides approximately 10 million direct jobs. Despite its size and importance, the sector continues to face significant challenges, particularly within the regulatory environment. Multiple regulatory bodies and inconsistent policies have created a fragmented and complex system, which has slowed down growth and efficiency in food processing across the country.
Garri, as it is commonly known in Nigeria, is a staple food derived from cassava. Nigeria is the largest producer of cassava globally, with an estimated output of about 54 million metric tonnes as far back as 2013. While garri remains widely consumed across all socio-economic classes, it is largely a carbohydrate-based food with limited nutritional value.
High Nutrient Garri is an innovative and value-added product designed to address this gap. It is a uniquely packaged, ready-to-consume version of garri made from carefully processed cassava. This creamy-white granular product is gaining popularity among Nigerians, particularly urban dwellers and young people who often seek convenient and quick meal options due to their busy lifestyles.
The product is hygienically processed and properly filtered, with no preservatives added. It is enhanced with ingredients such as sugar, milk, and groundnut (peanut), making it more nutritious, palatable, and suitable for a wide range of consumers across different income levels.
The production and packaging of High Nutrient Garri under strict hygienic conditions, combined with the distribution of a shelf-stable product, present a unique and profitable business opportunity for investors. At the same time, it meets the growing demand for convenient, nutritious, and affordable food products in Nigeria.
This report aims to evaluate the financial viability of establishing a business focused on the production, packaging, and sale of garri enriched with milk, sugar, and groundnut.
The proposed production capacity of the plant is two (2) tons per day. Operations will run on a single shift of eight (8) hours daily, utilizing approximately 80% of installed capacity for 300 working days annually.
At full operational efficiency, the plant is projected to produce 16,000 cartons per annum, with each carton containing 50 sachets of 100 grams each.
